Michael Grapner Program Manager

Biography

Michael Grapner is originally from Celina, Ohio, and currently works as Program Manager for 3D Sport Recovery Pittsburgh in collaboration with Dr. Yetsa Tuakli-Wosornu, serving at-risk spinal cord injured patients and their families whose quality of life can be enhanced through sports.

His background is in sports and exercise science. He has an M.S. in Sport Science from Ohio University and a B.S. in Kinesiology and Health from Miami University. He was a college athlete in Men’s Swimming and Diving at UNC-Wilmington (2003-2005) until a spinal injury resulted in his athletic retirement. After that, he transferred to Miami University and began his coaching career. Prior to moving to Pittsburgh in 2020, he was the Head Diving Coach for Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving at West Virginia University from 2010-2020. While at WVU, he increased the program from 2 athletes to 12, created a nationally recognized diving program, coached two NCAA All-Americans, and was awarded BIG12 Coach of the Meet in 2018 and 2020. 

Michael leads an active lifestyle and his passion is sports and exercise for healthy living. He enjoys outdoor activities and new adventures, in addition to playing volleyball, yoga, skiing and working out.
