Research Study Recruitment

You may be eligible to participate if:

  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • You have at least one year of clinical or caregiver experience performing dependent transfers
  • You do not have a history of injury that would be aggravated by performing dependent transfers
  • You are able to participate in a 4 hour testing protocol

The Human Engineering Research Laboratories is looking for clinicians and caregivers who are experienced in conducting dependent transfers to participate in a research study to evaluate and compare the biomechanics, effectiveness and usability of a robotic transfer assist device (HERL-RATD) with the use of a commercially available manual hydraulic (Hoyer) lift. You will complete a series of totally assisted lift transfers, in everyday settings with each device. The information obtained in this study will be used to further improve the HERL-RATD. Testing will take place the Human Engineering Research Laboratories (HERL), Bakery Square, 6425 Penn Ave and is expected to take up to 4 hours. Participants who complete the study will be reimbursed $100.00. Participation is voluntary and all information will be kept strictly confidential.
